What is waiting for your approval: your own LinkedIn posts, and — for an admin or an owner of Social posts — posts for a Facebook Page. You see the exact words that will be posted, link included; approving covers those words, the picture, the audience and the time. Any later edit needs approving again.
Scheduled posts go out at their time only while their approval still matches them word for word, and only while Steele has publishing switched on. A post more than a day late is not sent late.
- LinkedIn, your own profile. LinkedIn’s self-serve Share on LinkedIn product (permission w_member_social) lets you post as yourself. Signing in with LinkedIn is a separate permission and does not by itself allow posting. LinkedIn gives this app no numbers for a personal post (that needs its Community Management API) — type them here from LinkedIn if you want them kept.
- Facebook, a Page you manage. Through your own Facebook sign-in, with pages_manage_posts (which needs pages_read_engagement and pages_show_list). Only Renew’s own Page, and test Pages Steele lists, can be posted to. Page insights are later.
- Later, each assessed on its own: Renew’s LinkedIn company Page, analytics, lead imports, recruiter tools and messaging; paid advertising (a budget would need explicit authorization).
- Never: reading profiles or feeds, scraping, connection requests, messages, or any browser automation to get round an API that is not available. Nothing from LinkedIn or Facebook is sent to an AI model.
- Steele chooses the test accounts: a LinkedIn test account (or his own profile) and a test Facebook Page with no followers, managed by someone who connects Facebook here.
- Under Accounts & publishing he sets publishing to Test, lists the Renew address whose LinkedIn is the test account and the test Page’s ID. Anyone with that Page then reconnects Facebook on Connections so its token is kept.
- A LinkedIn test post goes to Connections only (LinkedIn’s API offers no “Only me”); a post for Anyone is refused in test.
- One draft each, approved, then Publish now. Check it on LinkedIn and on the test Page, then delete the test posts there by hand.
- Only Steele switches to Live. CONNECTIONS-SETUP.md, “Social publishing”, has every step.
